How I
use AI
tools.

Know what done looks like.
I decide what I want back before I prompt. Then I point the agent at the files that matter instead of the whole repo.
Write the plan down.
Plans and decisions go in a file or a canvas, so I’m not paying to explain them again in every chat.
Start small.
I try one small task, read what comes back, and only then go bigger. I watch token use, but the result has to be good first.

About
me.

I started teaching in high school. Today I help developers use AI and volunteer my time helping families with college admissions.

My experience with AI

I was studying computer science at the University of Washington when Copilot and ChatGPT arrived. I beta-tested Copilot’s inline completions and started using ChatGPT when it launched.

I’ve watched AI move from suggesting the next line to taking on whole tasks. Learning alongside that shift shaped how I build—and how I help other developers figure out what’s useful.

Teaching & college counseling

Outside work, I volunteer my time teaching and helping families navigate college admissions. I’m also building Admission Yogi (new tab) to make that guidance easier to access.

My essay on college pressure — GeekWire, 2022 (new tab)
FAVORITE PARTWhen it clicks for someone.

Let’s
talk.

If you build tools for developers, or help people learn them, I’d like to hear from you.

About this preview
  • Concept C, rewritten for general developer advocacy: AI tools, effective developers, sensible token use.
  • Published work and recognition link to their sources. The personal story reflects my own experience. Private work and grant data stay off the page. Workshop material isn’t shown as a finished event.
  • The approach section describes how I work. It doesn’t claim measured token savings.
  • Before launch: add a contact email and résumé. GitHub and LinkedIn are the current profile links.
